Clamp gripper

The clamp gripper is used to stack boxes (trays) that are open at the top or at high speeds where a vacuum gripper is not possible.

Clamping is done by a pneumatic cylinder inside the gripper. The moving part moves in an aluminum section. Control of the cylinder is by means of a 5/3 valve (center position vented) that is also located in the gripper.

The clamping force is set with pressure regulators on the side of the gripper. These are labeled IN and OUT, indicating extension and retraction.

The six rotary knobs on the side are used to set the range, this is related to the size of the box.

A detection plate is provided in the middle of the gripper. This ensures that the palletiser stops when a box is released. The detection plate works as follows: if the lower disc is down, nothing is detected with the sensor. Therefore, nothing hangs on the gripper. When the bottom disc is up, it is detected by the inductive sensor and so an object has been grabbed with the gripper.
